A 4-year-old boy underwent 12 surgeries after a serious dog attack in West Virginia.

Each month, the West Virgina University Children’s Hospital nominates a child to be the Hero of the Month and this month the 4-year-old boy was honored after fighting through the dog attack.

The child was in the hospital for six weeks and became very popular there through his charm and when people heard his story. He underwent 12 surgeries including one where doctors had to implant veins into his leg.

The dog attack happened at the boy’s uncle’s house when the boy walked out of sight and was attacked by what authorities believe was a Rottwieler. The dog was euthanized after the attack.

Dog bite attacks can seriously injury a person especially when the victim is a child. Our thoughts are with the victim during his recovery.
