A blast at a West Virginia coal mine killed twenty-five workers and left four people unaccounted for on Monday afternoon. Officials do not yet know the cause of the blast, but say it may be the worst mining accident in two decades. According to sources familiar with the case, the plant had a history of safety violations, including improper ventilation of methane gas preempting the explosion that led to the death and personal injuries of workers.
Our hearts go out to the victims and all of those involved in the mine explosion.
