Three killed Virgina car accident

Police officials have identified the victims that were killed in a Virginia car accident.

The accident occurred when a Dodge Caravan was traveling southbound on Interstate 95 when it rear-ended the vehicle driving in front of it. The collision caused the second vehicle to run off the road and strike the guardrail and caused the Caravan to go off of the opposite side of the road.

The van then overturned and rolled into a tree. Three people that were riding in the Caravan were killed. The investigation into the accident it still underway, but it is known that all of the people were wearing their seat belts.

One woman killed in Boone County car accident

On elderly woman was killed in a car accident in Boone County on Route 17 in the morning hours of July 12.

According to West Virginia authorities, the 83-year-old woman was driving south on Route 17 when she lost control of her vehicle and ran off of the side of the road.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by emergency officials. Further details into the accident are still being investigated.

Two injured in accident on Turnpike

Two people were injured in car accident after they ran into an arrow board on the West Virginia Turnpike.

The two people were heading north on the Turnpike in a Dodge Intrepid when they struck a lighted arrow board that was sitting on the side of the roadway near the 88-mile marker. The board was placed on the side of the road to alert drivers that the left lane was closed for construction crews to work and repair a bridge.

After the vehicle struck the board, it caught on fire. Both people were able to get out of the car and were transported to the hospital where they were treated and released.

Two-vehicle crash leaves two dead

Two people are believed dead following a two-vehicle reckless-driving related crash on Interstate 79 today around 11:30 a.m.

A white Buick sedan was headed northbound in a southbound lane near the Star City exit on the highway when it smashed into a red Kia Sorento, said Monongalia County Sheriff’s deputies.

As of now, the condition of the two drivers is unknown. Police report that the ambulance called to the scene remained there, suggesting that both drivers were killed.

The highway will remain closed for at least several hours.
